WERKSTATT DER KULTUREN invites everyone to ‘Creole Global’ on 7 – 9 September 2018. An international musical contest featuring world renowned GlobalBeat Bands.
To celebrate the 25th birthday of the WERKSTATT DER KULTUREN, Berlin’s premier venue for global festivals, the first international creole event will be taking place 7th-9th September 2018 in Neukölln, within the heart of Berlin.
Creole is a unique, well established talent contest featuring performers who are influenced by intriguing transcultural experiences, from orchestrated performances, to dance music and fusion. The contest has been running for the last 12 years, but until now has only been open to performers with residency in Germany. Now, for the very first time contestants from around the world are invited to enter ‘creole global’.
Philippa Ebene (Managing Director and Artistic Director of WEKSTATT DER KULTUREN) explains, “creole has gone from strength to strength for the last 12 years and we have been receiving more and more enquiries from abroad, which we could not accept when the competition was ‘creole Berlin’. We are very excited to be able to open the competition to international bands as it takes both ‘creole global’ as an event and indeed the venue to a worldwide audience. The original creole has always had a global spirit, featuring artists who draw their skills and influences from diverse sources and the musical fusion they create, and as ‘creole global’ continues to develop organically we now have the opportunity to invite even more world class artists to perform in Berlin”.
